Ownerly Opt Out FAQs
Here are some common questions that people have about Ownerly.
What is Ownerly?
Ownerly is a data broker site that lists property and home information.
Its reverse address search function provides the following information:
- Deed details. Including names of buyers and sellers, types and amounts for loans, lender name and type, and lien info.
- Property details. Including construction date, lot and building size, parcel number, and beds and baths count.
- Ownership info. Names of homeowners, phone and email info, other properties owned, timeline of homeownership.
- Sales timelines. Dates for each sale, estimated loan amount and type, lender details, and full names of buyers and sellers.
Although this personal and property information is behind a paywall, a 7-day trial membership is available for $1 for up to 25 information reports.
Is Ownerly legit?
Ownerly is legit in that it actually sells people’s personal and property information, though the accuracy of this information can vary.
What Ownerly does is legal, too. There is currently no federal law in the US that would regulate the data broker industry.
Is Ownerly free?
Ownerly is not free. To see personal and property information, you need to pay a monthly fee.
That said, there’s a 7-day trial available for $1, which provides you with up to 25 information reports for a week.
How accurate is Ownerly?
The accuracy of Ownerly’s data can vary, which is typical of data brokers. According to one report, about 40% of data brokers’ data is inaccurate or no longer correct. This finding has also been confirmed by NATO.
Ownely say so themselves. “The information contained in any report and on our website is not necessarily 100% accurate, complete or up to date, nor a substitute for your own due diligence, especially concerning such sensitive items as criminal history, relatives, mortgages and liens.”
The site further goes on to say that they collect information from a variety of sources, including municipalities and jurisdictions that may be slow to report their data.
Unfortunately, inaccurate data broker data can be dangerous, leading to hiring insurance premiums, wrongful arrests, and lost job opportunities.
How does the Ownerly opt-out process work?
To opt out of Ownerly, you will first need to see if your profile appears on their site and then click “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.”
Doing so will take you to BeenVerified, which manages opt-out requests for Ownerly. On BeenVerified, search for your home address and then fill out the opt-out form. You will also need to verify your opt-out request through email.
Once your opt-out request is confirmed, your information should be removed from Ownerly within 24 hours.
