What Is the Do Not Call List Georgia?
The state of Georgia Do Not Call List was merged into the National Do Not Call (DNC) registry in 2003.
Since then, the National Do Not Call (DNC) List has served as the primary resource for Georgia residents to block unwanted telemarketing calls, i.e., there isn’t a separate Georgia DNC List.
Georgia residents can register their home or cell phone numbers (but not their business phone numbers) for the national DNC List.
Registration is free.
Numbers remain on the national DNC List indefinitely unless you remove them or they are disconnected.
Once your number is on the national DNC list, telemarketers are legally required to stop calling you within 31 days.
If you get unwanted calls after 31 days, you can file a complaint with the FTC. Companies that make illegal calls can be fined up to $50,120 per call.
Exceptions
Some calls are still allowed, even if your number is on the national DNC List.
These include:
- Political calls
- Charitable calls
- Survey calls
- Debt collection calls
- Informational calls
- Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
- Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls
If a telemarketer ignores the National Do Not Call List, it’s probably a scam.
One of the best ways to protect yourself from scam calls is to remove your phone number from online sources like data brokers.
Data brokers are companies that collect people’s personal information from various sources (public records, social media, etc.), compile it into comprehensive profiles, and sell these profiles to more or less anyone who wants them – including scammers and robocallers.
Here’s an example of a data broker profile:
Most data brokers will remove your personal information from their databases if you request to “opt out.”
We have detailed, step-by-step guides on how to do this.
However, with the sheer number of data brokers operating today, removing your number and other details from these platforms—let alone the information of your family members—can be complex and time-consuming.
It’s also a task you’ll need to repeat regularly. Data brokers constantly collect and update personal information, so regular monitoring and removal efforts are necessary to keep your data off these platforms.
