We also show you the Illinois Do Not Call List registration process.

The TL;DR Version: Do Not Call List Illinois

Here’s everything you need to know about the state of Illinois Do Not Call List (Illinois DNC List) at a glance.

  • How to verify your registration: Use the ‘Verify a Registration’ form.
  • What to do if you’re still getting unwanted calls/texts: Remove yourself from data brokers (a source of information for scammers) by following our step-by-step data broker opt-out guides or subscribe to a professional data broker removal service like DeleteMe

What Is the Do Not Call List Illinois?

You won’t find a Do Not Call Registry Illinois. That’s because Illinois has adopted the national Do Not Call List

Instead of looking to list your number on the Do Not Call Register Illinois, Illinois residents who want to get fewer unsolicited calls and/or texts should register their phone numbers (cell or home phone numbers; business numbers are exempt) with the national Do Not Call List.

Registering for the national DNC List is free.

Telemarketers are required to stop calling individuals registered on the national DNC List within 31 days (with some exceptions outlined below).

Once your number is on the national DNC list, you don’t need to worry about having to re-add it. Your number will remain on the list forever unless your number is disconnected. However, you can remove your number manually from the list.

Exceptions

The national DNC List permits the following calls to be made:

  • Political calls
  • Charitable calls
  • Survey calls
  • Debt collection calls
  • Informational calls
  • Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
  • Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.

Illinois Do Not Call List Registration

Illinois adopted the national Do Not Call List, which Illinois residents should register with to reduce the number of unsolicited calls and texts they get. There isn’t a separate Do Not Call Illinois List.

Follow our step-by-step instructions on how to register with the national Do Not Call List.

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls

Legitimate telemarketers will adhere to the national DNC List. Scammers will not.

To stop scammers from contacting you, hide your contact details.

Don’t share your phone number online, and opt out of data brokers that list your number (and other personal information) on their websites.

Here’s an example of what a data broker profile looks like:

You can remove your phone number (and other personal details) from most data brokers by “opting out.”

Follow our opt-out guides for step-by-step instructions (unfortunately, there are many data brokers in operation today, each with a different opt-out process).

You’ll need to opt out regularly as data brokers relist your profile when they find more information about you.
