Here’s everything you need to know about the state of Maryland Do Not Call List (Maryland DNC) at a glance.

- How to unsubscribe: Call 1-888-382-1222 from the number registered on the National DNC List.

What Is the Do Not Call List Maryland?
The Do Not Call Registry Maryland doesn’t exist. Instead of maintaining its own Do Not Call Register, Maryland uses the national Do Not Call List.
Residents of Maryland should register their home and cell phone numbers on the national DNC List. Business numbers are exempt from the national DNC List.
Once your number is on the list, you should see fewer calls within about a month – telemarketers are required to stop texting/calling you within 31 days of your number being placed on the list. There are some exceptions, however (see the ‘Exceptions’ section below).
In the past, you had to re-register with the national DNC List every five years. This is no longer the case – numbers stay on the list indefinitely unless you take them off yourself or your number is disconnected.
Exceptions
The below calls are permitted under the national Do Not Call List:
- Political calls
- Charitable calls
- Survey calls
- Debt collection calls
- Informational calls
- Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
- Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.
Maryland Do Not Call List Registration
You won’t find the Do Not Call Maryland List anywhere.

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls
Once your number is on the national DNC List, legitimate telemarketers will likely stop contacting you. But scammers won’t.
The only way to actually reduce unwanted calls is to hide your contact details.
Most people’s phone numbers are easy to find because they are listed on people search sites and data brokers. These are companies that gather your personal information from varied sources like public records and social media, combine it into comprehensive profiles, and publish these profiles on their sites.
Here’s what a typical data broker profile looks like:
Note the ‘Associated Phone Numbers’ section.
To stop your phone numbers and other personal data from being displayed on these sites, you need to “opt out,” i.e., ask the broker to remove you from their database.
Our opt-out guides show you how to do that step-by-step for hundreds of data brokers in operation today.
You’ll need to recheck these sites periodically. Data brokers relist your information when they find more of it, even if you opted out before.
