What Is the Do Not Call List Missouri?
The Do Not Call List Missouri, known officially as the No-Call List, is a list that Missouri residents can sign up for to reduce the number of telemarketing calls and texts they receive.
Missouri residents can list their cell and residential phone numbers on the No-Call List. Business phone numbers are not permitted on the No-Call List.
Signing up for the No-Call List is free, and you can register multiple numbers at once.
With a few exceptions, telemarketers are not allowed to call the numbers published on the Missouri No-Call List.
The exceptions include calls from:
- Businesses you have a current relationship with.
- Businesses you’ve expressly allowed/permitted to contact you.
- Some not-for-profit groups (if the caller is a member).
- People calling on a referral or working from home, and tradesmen/professionals trying to set an appointment.
The No-Call List is updated quarterly. This means it might take some time before you stop receiving calls from telemarketers.
For example, if you register on the No-Call List by the 1st of November, telemarketers won’t be able to call you after the 1st of January.
Numbers on the No-Call List remain there indefinitely, i.e., you do not need to re-register if your phone number remains the same.
If your phone number changes, you will need to re-register and also call the No-Call Unit at 1-866-289-9633 to delete your old number from the No-Call List.
The No-Call List is separate from the national Do Not Call List. It is generally recommended that individuals sign up for both.
Penalties under the Do Not Call List Missouri
Telemarketers who violate the No-Call List can face a civil penalty of up to $1,000 or $5,000 for each knowing violation of the law.

What Is the National Do Not Call List?
In addition to getting your number listed on the Do Not Call Register Missouri, you should also register with the National Do Not Call Registry.
Managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the National DNC List lets US consumers limit how many unsolicited calls and texts they receive.
Once you add your number to the national DNC List, it remains there permanently unless your number is disconnected or you remove it from the list yourself.
Telemarketers should stop calling you within 31 days of your phone number being published on the National DNC List.
That said, there are some exceptions.
The following calls are still allowed, even if your number is on the national DNC List:
- Political calls
- Charitable calls
- Survey calls
- Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
- Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.
If telemarketers still call you after 31 days of your number being on the national DNC List, you can file a complaint against them. The FTC can enforce penalties against telemarketers who violate the Do Not Call rules.
What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls
The Do Not Call Missouri List and national Do Not Call List will reduce the number of unwanted calls you get, but it won’t eliminate them 100%.
The main reason why is that scammers don’t follow these kinds of lists. As long as they have your number, they’ll keep contacting you.
The obvious solution is to hide your contact details.
However, even if you’re careful with where you share your phone number, chances are, it’s still easily findable online through people search sites and data brokers.
Data brokers and people search sites collect your personal details from various sources and then publish these details, including your phone number, on their websites for anyone to see and use.
Here’s a typical data broker profile:
To stop your number from showing up on these sites, you need to “opt out.”
Our detailed, step-by-step opt out guides show you how you can do that for hundreds of data brokers in operation today.
Opt-outs need to be continuous. Even if you remove yourself from data brokers, they’ll relist your information when they come across more of it. For this reason, you need to re-check these sites periodically and opt out again.
