If you live in Hawaii and are getting a lot of unsolicited calls, you need to know: “What is the Hawaii Do Not Call List?”

Read on to learn about whether there’s a Do Not Call List in Hawaii and how to reduce the amount of unwanted calls and messages you receive as a resident of Hawaii.

We also show you how to register with the Hwaii Do Not Call List.

The TL;DR Version: Hawaii Do Not Call List

Here’s everything you need to know about the state of Hawaii Do Not Call List (Hawaii DNC List) at a glance.

  • What it is: The Hawaii Do Not Call Registry doesn’t exist. That’s because Hawaii has adopted the national Do Not Call List. Residents of Hawaii looking to reduce the number of unwanted calls and texts they receive should sign up for the national DNC List.
  • How to sign up: Fill out an online registration form or call 1-888-382-1222.
  • How to unsubscribe: Call 1-888-382-1222 from the number registered on the National DNC List.
  • How to file a complaint: Fill out a complaint form
  • How to verify your registration: Use the ‘Verify a Registration’ form.
  • What to do if you’re still getting unwanted calls/texts: Opt out from people search sites and data brokers that publish your personal details, including your phone number, for anyone to see on their sites. Use our step-by-step opt-out guides or subscribe to a data broker removal service like DeleteMe.

What Is the Hawaii Do Not Call List?

There is no such thing as a Do Not Call Registry Hawaii. Instead of maintaining its own Do Not Call Register, Hawaii uses the national Do Not Call List.

Hawaii residents who want to get fewer unsolicited texts and calls should sign up their home and cell phone numbers for this list instead. Business numbers are not allowed on the national DNC List.

Telemarketers are obliged to stop contacting you within 31 days of your number appearing on the national DNC List (exceptions to this are outlined in the ‘Exceptions’ section below).

Numbers on the national DNC List don’t expire. Unless your number is disconnected or you remove it from the list yourself, you won’t ever have to re-register.

Exceptions

The national DNC List permits the following calls to be made:

  • Political calls
  • Charitable calls
  • Survey calls
  • Debt collection calls
  • Informational calls
  • Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
  • Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.

Hawaii Do Not Call List Registration

You won’t find a Do Not Call List Hawaii.

Hawaii uses the national Do Not Call List, so instead of looking for a Do Not Call Hawaii List (which doesn’t exist), residents of Hawaii should list their numbers on this list.

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls

Registering with the national Do Not Call List will not stop all unwanted calls.

While legitimate telemarketers tend to follow the national DNC List, scammers do not. The only way you can get them to stop contacting you is hide your contact details.

Most people’s contact details are easily findable online through sources like people search sites and data brokers, i.e., companies that have made a business of sharing/selling your personal information, including phone numbers.

Here’s what a data broker profile usually looks like:

To stop your number from being easily accessible online, you need to “opt out” from these kinds of sites.

Since each data broker has a unique opt-out process and there are hundreds of brokers in operation today, we’ve put together detailed opt-out guides you can follow.

Opting out isn’t a one-time thing. Even if you’ve already opted out, data brokers will relist your details as soon as they come across more of your information, so you need to check these sites regularly.

For an easier and quicker opt-out alternative, subscribe to a data broker removal service like DeleteMe.
