What Is the Montana Do Not Call List?

The Do Not Call Montana List doesn’t exist anymore.

Montana Do Not Call Registry was integrated with the national Do Not Call List

Information about the Montana Do Not Call List being integrated with the National Do Not Call Registry

Montana residents wishing to get fewer telemarketing calls and texts should sign up for the national DNC Registry. You can place cell and home phone numbers on the registry; business numbers are exempt.

You should see fewer calls and texts within about a month of listing your number on the national DNC List. Telemarketers must stop contacting you within 31 days of your number appearing on the list (with some exceptions – see the ‘Exceptions’ section below).

Numbers stay on the national DNC list indefinitely unless you remove them yourself or your number is disconnected.

Exceptions

The national DNC List does not prohibit the following calls from being made:

  • Political calls
  • Charitable calls
  • Survey calls
  • Debt collection calls
  • Informational calls
  • Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
  • Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.

Montana Do Not Call List Registration

You won’t find a Do Not Call Registry Montana.

Montana has integrated its list with the national Do Not Call Registry, so Montana residents should register with the national DNC List to see fewer calls and texts from telemarketers.

See our blog post on how to register with the national DNC list for step-by-step instructions and other important information, like how to make a complaint.

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls

Listing your number on the national Do Not Call List will reduce how many unwanted calls and texts you receive, but it won’t eliminate them completely.

In addition to the exceptions listed above (political calls, etc.), you will more than likely still get calls from scammers. Unlike legitimate telemarketing companies, scammers don’t care about the national Do Not Call List.

The best way to stop scammers from contacting you is to hide your contact details.

Most people’s contact information, including their phone numbers, is easily findable online through sources like people search sites and data brokers.

These companies collect your data from various sources and then publish it on their own sites for anyone to see.

Here’s a typical data broker profile:

The good news is that you can “opt out” of most of these sites.

Since there are hundreds of data brokers in operation today, and each one has a different opt-out process, we’ve put together opt-out guides that walk you through the process for each one.

Opt outs need to happen regularly. That’s because data brokers will relist your data on their websites as soon as they find more of your information online.

For an easier and quicker opt-out alternative, subscribe to a data broker removal service like DeleteMe.
