No, Candy AI is not a scam. It’s a legitimate service that offers custom AI companions. However, it doesn’t get the best reviews from real users. 

For instance, at the time of writing, the service receives 1.8 out of 5.0 stars (based on 33 reviews) on Trustpilot, with most reviews quite negative.

Nearly all reviewers rate Candy AI 1 out of 5 stars, with users citing poor response quality, frustration with billing practices, and dissatisfaction with customer support.

On Google Play, Candy AI has a score of 3.7 out of 5.0 stars from 100k+ downloads and 2.59k reviews. 

Most users report a frustrating experience, with complaints centering on restrictive paywalls, a perceived lack of a substantive free trial, low-quality or repetitive AI chats, refund and billing issues, and pricing (many people find the service overpriced for what it offers).

On online forums like Reddit, user opinions vary, but frustration is common. One Reddit user expressed disappointment with the interface and response quality, stating: 

“I feel like such an idiot trying candy ai, I gave into the hype. 10 minutes in and it’s horrible just horrible. When you enter text you only get one line of text. You can’t see what you write and you can’t even edit a paragraphs or more than a sentence unless you’re on a computer. And the responses are entirely unrealistic. Also you can’t change the name of the character, forcing you to use tokens to create new ones each time. Why did so many like this i have no idea.”

Additionally, it says it may use your information to send you marketing emails (if you’ve opted in), moderate the platform, prevent abuse, and comply with legal requests as necessary. 

Candy AI may share your data with service providers (hosting, email, and payment processors), moderators or support staff, legal authorities if required, and potential buyers in the event of a company sale. 

It says it does not sell your personal data without your consent.

The company may keep your data for 3–5 years after you stop using the service (unless you request deletion). Financial/payment data is kept up to 7 years for tax/legal reasons. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or for two years after your last interaction with Candy AI. 

Depending on where you reside, you may have certain privacy rights, including the right to access your personal information, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain uses (such as marketing), request your data in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time.

How to Use Candy AI Safely and Privately 

• Create a strong, unique password. And don’t reuse it elsewhere online in case of a breach. 
• Don’t share real personal details with Candy AI. Don’t disclose your full name, workplace, address, phone number, social media, etc.) Leave optional fields blank. Remember that AI chat logs may be stored and reused for training.
• Use a burner email address or a masked email address when signing up. This protects your actual email address in case of any security incidents.
• Turn off auto-renewal immediately after subscribing. Doing so helps you maintain control over billing.
