If you’re thinking of shopping at Commense, you need to know whether it’s safe. Is Commense a scam?
Below, we explain whether Commense is a scam and discuss some steps you can take to improve your safety when shopping at this online clothing store.
What Is Commense?
Commense is an online fashion clothing company that sells affordable women’s clothing.

The brand was founded in 2021 and, according to the website’s “About Us” page, is based in New York and Shanghai.
The company says it cares deeply about sustainability, focusing on considered fabrics, minimalist packaging, and ethical manufacturing and sourcing.
Is Commense a Scam?
Commense is not a scam in the sense that they’ll take your money and disappear, but its reviews are very mixed.
For example, a Commense Review on the blog Review My Closet raises concerns regarding the originality of product imagery and says that the material listed on one product’s page didn’t actually match what was on the item’s care label. The review also notes that Commense’s customer support made it difficult to get a return address, pushing for a partial refund instead.
User reviews of Commense are mixed as of this writing:
- 4.2 out of 5.0 stars (from over 10 reviews) on Google.
- 4.6 out of 5.0 stars (from over 6,000 reviews) on Trustpilot.
- 2.2 out of 5.0 stars (from over 70 reviews) on Sitejabber.
- 3.6 out of 5.0 stars (from over 50,000 downloads and 70 reviews) on Google Play.
- 3.3 out of 5.0 stars (from over 400 reviews) on the App Store.
Positive reviews praise the clothing quality, responsive customer service, and affordable pricing.
Negative reviews report missing orders, poor clothing quality (including received items looking nothing like the photos on the website), bad customer service, and issues with returns (with many people, claiming that returns are not free, that the company tries to get you to keep the items in exchange for store credit or a partial cash refund, and that customer service is very slow in responding to return/refund requests).
On online forums like Reddit, people report mixed experiences with Commense.
Some people say the styles are cute, and some of the items are of decent quality.
One Redditor writes:
“I ordered from them last year and it was fine for what I paid. The material isn’t top-tier, but the styles are cute and trendy. I’d say it’s one of those brands you buy from if you like the look, not for long-lasting quality.”

However, several people say that shipping times are very long, sizing is inconsistent, fabric quality feels cheap, and returns are very difficult.
One person alleges:
“They advertise a full refund and “easy returns,” but you have to negotiate with them to get it. At first they will only offer store credit, or keep the items and get a 50% refund. […] Oh, and it’s all negotiating via email with incredibly slow response times.”

Commense does not have a Better Business Bureau profile at the time of writing.
Commense return policy
In its return policy, Commense describes the returns process, including timelines, as well as product return eligibility criteria.
It says that customers are responsible for paying return shipping and has broad “not a defect” definitions (for example, loose threads and raw edges are not seen as a defect by the company).
Additionally, it says that store credits are final sale (i.e., not refundable).
Commense security
We were unable to find much information about Commense’s security practices on its website as of this writing.
On the app’s Google Play page, it says that the company encrypts data in transit and allows you to request data deletion.

Commense privacy
Commense explains the kind of information it collects, why, and with whom it shares it in its privacy policy.
It collects the following data about you:
- Device information: Browser details, IP address, time zone, cookies, browsing behavior, and referring sites.

The company uses this data to process and ship orders, take payments, send you a confirmation, communicate with you, detect fraud, send marketing communications or ads, and analyze and improve how the Commense site and ads work.
It shares your data with third parties like Shopify (which powers Commense’s store) and Google Analytics (which tracks site usage). It may also share your information to comply with legal obligations like subpoenas or search warrants.

Commense uses your data for behavioral advertising. You can opt out through Facebook, Google, Bing, or the Digital Advertising Alliance’s portal.
It does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals.
The company keeps your order information indefinitely unless you request that it be deleted.

European residents can request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data. Data may be transferred outside Europe, including to Canada and the US.
So, Should You Shop at Commense?
Depends on your risk tolerance.
Commense isn’t a scam, but it’s a gamble. You might get cute, affordable pieces, but you could just as easily end up with clothing items of inconsistent quality, long shipping times, and frustrating returns.
How to Shop at Commense Safely and Privately
- Control cookies and ads. Regularly clear cookies and opt out of targeted advertising through Google, Facebook, and similar ad settings to reduce behavioral ads.
- Don’t share more than you need to. Only enter the required personal details when ordering on Commense, and avoid saving payment information if you don’t plan to shop on it often.
- Use secure payments. Pay with trusted, protected payment methods (like credit cards or virtual card numbers).
- Limit marketing emails. Use a separate or masked email address for online shopping to keep your main email inbox private and free of spam. If you’re a DeleteMe customer, you can use our masked email.
- Start small. Place a low-cost order initially to evaluate things like how long shipping takes, item sizing, and quality before you commit to buying more items.
- Screenshot everything. Save screenshots of product photos, descriptions, prices, and return policies in case items don’t match listings or you end up in a dispute with Commense.
- Understand the return terms before buying. Assume that returns may be slow or that Commense will try to negotiate with you (based on user reviews) and check refund methods, fees, and timelines before placing an order.
- Avoid time-sensitive purchases. Don’t order items you need by a specific date, since multiple reviewers report long and unpredictable shipping times.
- Don’t trust sustainability claims on their own. Treat sustainability and ethical sourcing claims cautiously unless they’re backed by third-party certifications or detailed disclosures.
- Request data deletion after shopping. Once your order is complete and you don’t plan to shop on Commense again, ask the company to delete your stored order data to limit long-term data retention.
- Review your rights. If you’re in the EU, periodically request access to or deletion of your data to keep stored information to a minimum.
