If you live in Connecticut and are getting a lot of unsolicited calls, you need to know: “What is the Do Not Call List Connecticut?”

Read on to learn about whether there’s a Do Not Call List in Connecticut and how to reduce the amount of unwanted calls and messages you receive as a resident of Connecticut.

We also show you the Connecticut Do Not Call List registration process.

The TL;DR Version: Do Not Call List Connecticut

Here’s everything you need to know about the Connecticut DNC list at a glance.

  • What it is: Connecticut has adopted the national Do Not Call List, so there isn’t a separate Do Not Call Registry Connecticut. Connecticut residents who want to get fewer unsolicited calls and texts should register with the national DNC list.
  • How to sign up: Fill out an online registration form or call 1-888-382-1222.
  • How to unsubscribe: Call 1-888-382-1222 from the number registered on the National DNC List.
  • How to file a complaint: Fill out a complaint form
  • How to verify your registration: Use the ‘Verify a Registration’ form.
  • What to do if you’re still getting unwanted calls/texts: Remove yourself from data brokers (a source of information for scammers) by following our step-by-step data broker opt-out guides or subscribe to a professional data broker removal service like DeleteMe

What Is the Do Not Call List Connecticut?

Connecticut has adopted the national Do Not Call List. As such, a separate Connecticut Do Not Call Registry doesn’t exist.

Connecticut Do Not Call List

Instead of looking to add their numbers to the Do Not Call Register Connecticut, Connecticut residents should register their numbers (cell phone and/or home) with the national Do Not Call List to reduce how many unsolicited calls and texts they receive.

The national DNC List does not cover businesses, so business numbers are exempt.

Registering for the national DNC list is free.

Within 31 days of registering with the national DNC list, telemarketers are obliged to stop calling (though there are some exceptions – see the section below).

Numbers remain on the national DNC list indefinitely unless your number is disconnected. However, you can remove your number from the list if you want.

Exceptions

Certain calls are still allowed under the national DNC list. These include the following:

  • Political calls
  • Charitable calls
  • Survey calls
  • Debt collection calls
  • Informational calls
  • Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
  • Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.

Connecticut Do Not Call List Registration

The state of Connecticut Do Not Call List (Connecticut DNC List) was merged with the national Do Not Call List. There is no longer a separate Do Not Call Connecticut List.

Connecticut residents should, therefore, register with the national DNC List. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to do so here

What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls

Most legitimate telemarketers will not contact you if your name is on the national Do Not Call List. However, scammers will.

To stop scammers from calling and texting you, you need to hide your contact details.

One common source of contact information for scammers is data brokers.

Data brokers are companies that scrape your personal details from various sources, compile them into comprehensive profiles, and then share these with more or less anyone.

Here’s an example of a data broker profile:

Luckily, you can “opt out” of most data broker databases.

You can do so yourself by following our opt-out guides (there are hundreds of data brokers out there, and each one has a different opt-out process).

Just remember to recheck these sites regularly, as data brokers will relist your information when they find more of it.
