What Is the Do Not Call List Iowa?
The state of Iowa Do Not Call List (Iowa DNC List, Do Not Call Registry Iowa, etc.) doesn’t exist.
Iowa residents who would like to reduce the number of telemarketing calls/texts should register their cell phone or home phone number with the national Do Not Call List (the list does not cover business numbers). Signing up for the national DNC list is free.
There isn’t a separate Do Not Call Register Iowa.
After signing up for the national Do Not Call List, telemarketers are legally obliged to stop calling you within 31 days (though there are some exceptions – see below).
Numbers of the national DNC List don’t expire. You’ll only need to re-add your number if the number on the national DNC list is disconnected or you removed your number from the list.
Exceptions
Some calls are still allowed, even if your phone number is on the national DNC List.
These calls include the following:
- Political calls
- Charitable calls
- Survey calls
- Debt collection calls
- Informational calls
- Calls from businesses you have an existing relationship with
- Calls for which you’ve given prior written consent.
Iowa Do Not Call List Registration
There’s no such thing as the Do Not Call Registry Iowa.
Iowa uses the national Do Not Call List, which Iowa residents should register with.
Take a look at our step-by-step guide on how to do so.
What to Do If You’re Still Getting Unsolicited Calls
While legitimate telemarketers should stop calling you after you add your phone number to the national DNC List, scammers are a different story.
The only way to stop scammers from calling or texting you is to make it difficult for them to find your contact details.
Unfortunately, finding most people’s phone numbers (and other personal information) is very easy, thanks to data brokers. These companies scrape your details from various sources, compile them into detailed profiles, and share these profiles with more or less anyone.
Here’s an example data broker profile:
Thankfully, most data brokers let people “opt out” of their databases.
Our opt-out guides walk you through the process (there are a lot of data brokers out there, and the opt-out process tends to vary between them).
You’ll need to repeat opt-outs regularly as data brokers are known to relist your information, including your phone number, when they find more data on you.
For an easy alternative to manual opt-outs, subscribe to DeleteMe’s data broker removal service.
