Frameo is a digital photo frame application that allows users to instantly share photos and videos with friends and family through Wi-Fi-connected digital frames. 

It works by syncing a smartphone app with the Frameo digital frame, so users can send pictures directly from their phones to the frame in real time.

Users can also add captions to photos and customize the order in which images appear on the frame.

Is Frameo Safe?

Yes, Frameo is generally considered safe. 

Frameo uses end-to-end encryption, so only the users involved in the communication can access shared photos and videos. It says that “photos and videos shared through the app are never collected by us or third parties.”

For users that add a subscription to their Regular Account, payment information is handled by Apple Pay or Google Payments. This information is not shared with Frameo. 

Frameo’s Cloud Backup feature (available to Frameo+ users) uses client-side encryption. Encryption keys are generated and stored on the frame, and data is encrypted when stored on servers or transmitted. Only users that have the correct decryption key can access the data.

Is Frameo Private?

Depends on your definition of “private.” 

Frameo does not require you to provide extensive personal information when setting up the frame. According to its privacy policy, the platform collects only minimal data necessary for its operation, reducing the risk of sensitive information being misused or exposed.

If you deactivate your Regular Account, Frameo will keep your profile data for two months in case you change your mind. After two months, Frameo automatically deletes all personal data.

Users have full control over the photos stored on the Frameo digital frame. You can easily delete or manage photos directly on the frame, ensuring that unwanted or outdated content is removed from the device.

Users can connect their frames with friends and family either through “friend codes,” which are valid for 12 hours after they’re generated, or QR codes. However, if someone else can see or scan the QR code displayed on your frame, they might be able to connect to your device without your permission. 

Frameo’s privacy policy has not been reviewed by external review sites such as Terms of Service; Didn’t Read at the time of writing.

• Regularly review and remove contacts. Periodically check the list of approved contacts and remove any that are no longer necessary or relevant. This helps maintain tighter control over who can send images to your frame.
• Delete photos after viewing. To avoid having old or unnecessary images stored on the frame, regularly delete photos that you no longer need. This prevents unwanted content from accumulating and limits the potential exposure of personal photos.
• Keep your Frameo app and firmware updated. Regularly update the Frameo app on your phone and the frame’s firmware to ensure you’re using the latest security features and privacy enhancements.
• Use a strong, unique password for your Frameo app. Ensure that your Frameo app is protected with a strong, unique password to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
