If you use or plan to use OneRep, you need to know: Is OneRep safe?
Below, we explain whether OneRep is:
- Safe to use.
- Good for privacy.
We also look at some steps you can take to improve both your safety and privacy when using this online service.
What Is OneRep?
OneRep is a data broker removal service. It was founded in 2015 by Dimitri Shelest.

It removes people’s personal information from data brokers and people search sites, which often collect and sell data without consent.
Data brokers gather information (like names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, etc.) from various public sources and collate it into a single report that they share for free or a small fee.
Having your information exposed on data broker sites increases your risk of identity theft, spam, phishing, doxxing, stalking, and other threats.
OneRep automates the process of identifying and requesting the removal of personal information from data broker sites such as Spokeo, Whitepages, and BeenVerified.
Is OneRep Safe?
As always, it depends on your definition of “safe.”
In its privacy policy, OneRep says it has implemented “technical, physical, and organizational security measures” to protect your data. It notes that “these safeguards vary based on the sensitivity of the information” they collect and store. It does not go into detail about what these safeguards are.

OneRep provides two-factor authentication to all users.
In 2024, Mozilla dropped OneRep after its CEO was forced to disclose his role in founding dozens of data broker websites.
There have been no data breaches associated with OneRep at the time of writing.
Is OneRep Private?
Again, depends on your definition of “private.”
Technically, OneRep is designed specifically to enhance privacy by removing your information from data brokers.
OneRep’s privacy policy outlines the kind of information it collects (e.g., name, email address, date of birth, etc.), how it uses it (e.g., to provide you with its services, communicate with you, etc.), and whom it shares it with (e.g., service providers and contractors).
According to the privacy policy, OneRep does not sell your personal information.
OneRep’s privacy policy has not been evaluated by an external review site such as Terms of Service; Didn’t Read at the time of writing.
How to Improve Your Safety and Privacy On OneRep
Follow the steps below for a safer and more private experience while using OneRep.
- Use strong, unique passwords. Ensure your OneRep account is secured with a strong, unique password. Avoid reusing passwords across platforms, and consider using a password manager.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Enable 2FA to add an extra layer of security to your OneRep account. 2FA ensures that even if your password is compromised, a second authentication step is required to access your account.
- Limit the personal data you provide. Only provide the necessary information required for OneRep to identify and remove your data from data broker sites. Avoid sharing unnecessary personal details to minimize the data that OneRep handles.
- Regularly review and update your data. Periodically log into your OneRep account to review the personal data that is being removed. If your contact details or addresses change, make sure to update them to ensure the removal requests remain accurate and up-to-date.
- Monitor data removal progress. If some data brokers still display your information, manually follow up or contact OneRep’s support for assistance.
- Read the privacy policy. Review OneRep’s privacy policy to ensure you understand how your data is handled and what steps are taken to protect your privacy.
