DeleteMe VS. OneRep [2022 Comparison – Fully Updated]

August 11, 2022

DeleteMe strives to deliver the best personal information removal services for everyone on the web. However, it’s not the only data-removal service out there.

Because we want you to be able to make an informed decision, we compile extensive comparisons with other data-removal services and make them available to you—in this case, we’re looking at OneRep

By analyzing and comparing company information and background, services, and pricing with our own, side by side, we help better determine which service will be right for you.

Company Backgrounds

OneRep is a data-broker removal service founded in 2015 by Dimitri Shelest. Incorporated in McLean, Virginia, OneRep was one of the first to utilize automation for every step of the personal data removal process.

DeleteMe was founded in 2011 by Rob Shavell, and is owned by Abine, Inc., incorporated and headquartered in Sommerville and Boston, Massachusetts, respectively. While services do include automated monitoring, we believe our clients benefit from interacting with actual humans who are experts in data privacy.

Data-Removal Service Analysis

OneRep and DeleteMe provide similar service functions, by removing customer information from data-broker sites. But the two are vastly different in scopes and processes.

Service and availability

OneRep is available to U.S.-based customers only, and removes personally identifiable information (PII) from around 190 data-broker sites. A full data-broker list can be found here, and OneRep adds new data-broker sites as they appear.

DeleteMe is available to both U.S. and international customers. DeleteMe international offers services to customers in almost 20 major countries, including Australia, Puerto Rico, the Cayman Islands, and Singapore. The basic service requests at DeleteMe remove PII from a minimum of 38 data-broker sites, with custom options to remove data from an additional 500. Our full data-broker list is constantly growing.

Data removal scope and process

OneRep removes an unlimited number of client aliases, addresses, and phone numbers from data-broker sites using an algorithm to monitor the web for customer PII, run automatic opt-out processes, and scan data-broker sites once a month for reappearing listings. OneRep also provides a monthly privacy status report.

At OneRep, data specialists do not work on client information removal directly, except possibly in complex cases where human intervention is required.

DeleteMe removes PII like names, ages, addresses past and current, phone numbers, email addresses, photos, occupations, marital statuses, and more. Just one week after sign-up, we provide clients with a full report of our activity, and check back every three months to ensure PII hasn’t been added to any additional websites or re-added to old ones.

The removal service combines DeleteMe’s in-house technology with a dedicated team of privacy experts. Which means our clients always have a specialist on hand in the case that a need for additional help or special requests should arise.

Company Service Pricing

OneRep offers both monthly and yearly plans in structured tiers. These plans are:

  • OneRep Individual plan – $14.95 monthly/$99.96 annually
  • OneRep Family plan (up to 6 members) – $27.95 monthly/$180 annually
  • OneRep Business plan (10+ members) – custom (contact customer support)

Plans renew automatically and OneRep offers a 5-day free trial. To sign up, customers provide information payment details, and once the trial ends, customers are automatically enrolled in a paid plan.

DeleteMe offers yearly and multi-year plans. These include:

  • DeleteMe 1-person plan – $129 annually/$209 every two years
  • DeleteMe 2-person plan – $229 annually/$349 every two years
  • Additional discounts available for up to 5+ people
  • DeleteMe Business plan – custom (contact customer support)

Multiple members can be added to a DeleteMe subscription, and the more added, the bigger the discount. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each one-year or multi-year term. Customers can cancel recurring billing via their DeleteMe online account.

While OneRep can offer cheaper pricing, it is exclusively due to the fact that the service is purely automated.

DeleteMe’s advantage in terms of service and value is the reliability of human expertise that’s always available to our clients.

Company Customer Service Breakdown

OneRep customer service can be reached via email 24/7, or by live chat or phone during operating hours. Customers can cancel subscriptions at any time via email, phone, and live chat and receive  a pro-rated refund.

DeleteMe’s customer service team can be reached via email 24/7, live chat during office hours, and phone from 9am to 8pm Eastern. DeleteMe customers can cancel subscriptions by phone, mail, or email, and get a full refund with no questions asked before their first report is complete. A pro-rated refund is available after that.

Company track records

OneRep has a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Reviews elsewhere, such as Pissed Consumer and Reddit, are decidedly mixed.

DeleteMe is a well-known name in the privacy industry. During over a decade in operation, we have processed more than 35 million successful opt-out removals. We regularly receive positive mentions in the media and remain listed as the number one privacy site on SiteJabber, where we maintain a 4.7 overall rating.

DeleteMe also has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau

Customers can request to see the personal information DeleteMe has collected at any time by emailing DeleteMe’s customer service support team. Requests can also be made for this data to be deleted.

DeleteMe vs. OneRep: Which One is for You?

OneRep’s big appeal is that it claims to remove data from around 190 sites automatically. At a glance, DeleteMe focuses first on the 38 biggest data brokers

So which service is the better value?

OneRep openly states that user records show up on 20 sites on average. Many of those are the most popular data brokers, so those statistics will be the same across many users. Less popular data brokers show up much lower in Google search results, and therefore don’t present the same danger to your privacy.

That means, DeleteMe targeting the biggest data brokers effectively can actually prove to be more useful to you, even though we target fewer sites at first. However, in addition to our baseline service, clients can also make a custom request with DeleteMe to remove data from more than 500 additional sites.

Whichever service you choose, we want you to be fully informed and know what to expect. At DeleteMe, we guarantee that you will always be able to rely on our proven human expertise to help you with data removal in any way you need.
