How to Opt Out of RetailMeNot Mailings

June 29, 2022

Coupon companies like RetailMeNot often bombard home addresses with lots of junk mail. A number of our customers want to know how to stop this unwanted mail.

Fortunately, RetailMeNot will unsubscribe you from their mailing list if you ask them. At the same time, that won’t stop third-party data brokers from sharing your information with marketers.

Luckily, there are simple steps you can take to secure your personal information.

How to opt out of the RetailMeNot mailing list

RetailMeNot is a U.S. company that offers coupons, discounts, and promo codes to customers and prospective customers.

Unfortunately, they’re prolific when it comes to sending lots of these promotions via mail. Most of it is junk mail that you simply don’t want or need.

RetailMeNot is partnered with Valassis (also known as Save.com), which is where you will need to go to opt out of RetailMeNot mailings.

  • Head to the Valassis marketing opt-out page and fill in your details, including name, address, and email. Click “Submit.”
  • You can unsubscribe from Valassis email marketing by entering your details here also.

How long it takes to stop receiving mail from RetailMeNot

As per the Valassis website, it can take up to 6 weeks for the platform to process your direct mail opt-out request and for you to stop receiving mail.

But, keep in mind, that means you may still receive marketing and promotional material from RetailMeNot or Valassis within that time period.

What to do if you keep getting mail from RetailMeNot

Valassis suggests that, should you keep receiving mail after 6 weeks, you should contact your postal service (USPS.com) and notify them of the error.

  • If you continue to receive junk mail from RetailMeNot, send the mail back. If there’s a return address, write “Refused: Return to Sender” on the envelope and mail it.
  • Call to file a formal complaint with RetailMeNot via Valassis at 1-844-940-7283.
  • File a formal complaint with Valassis online. Use the contact form here. You can also call them at 1-844-940-7283.

How to make sure you stay off RetailMeNot’s mailing list

The main thing to keep in mind, don’t provide any consent to more marketing material whenever you communicate with RetailMeNot, or use one of their coupons.

However, that also won’t guarantee you’ll stop receiving junk mail altogether. That’s because data brokers sell your personal information to marketing companies like RetailMeNot.

Which means, even if you never consent to receive marketing directly from RetailMeNot or Valassis, your personal information could still end up on their mailing lists.

Now, if you want to stop their junk mail for good, you have to remove your information from data-broker platforms. While it can be done manually, with over 500 data brokers  in operation, it is also very time consuming.

Alternatively, get DeleteMe to do it for you. We’re a data-broker removal site that has been specializing in the secure personal data removal for over ten years. As soon as we opt out of data brokers on your behalf, you’ll see a reduction in both junk mail and spam calls.
